VANDALS SEEK TO BE SECOND TIME LUCKY AT LEGON DUNKS

commonwealth hallAs a way of life, Vandalism evolved rather imperceptibly. Vandalism is a culture with a philosophy; it is a way of life that promotes respect for all without any prejudice. Vandalism is the highest form of religion where people love their neighbours more than they love themselves.

Vandalism as a culture preaches fairness, equality, freedom and above all justice – and that is the tenet with which the Commonwealth hall of the University of Ghana was established in 1956.

The hall is also well endowed in sports and the basketball team of arguably the most enviable hall of the country’s premier university will come in handy when the prestigious Legon dunks takes centre stage on Thursday March 18th.

The vandals were beaten at the finals of the competition last year at the main basketball court of the university by fiercest rivals Legon Hall and they have vowed to seek revenge this year.

The team has intensified preparations for the one-day tourney and expectations among the teeming fans of the hall has reached an epoch stage with barely eight (8) days left for the biggest and finest basketball show piece on the campus.

The basketball team of the hall showed resilience, stamina, energy, speed, agility and sublime piece of skills at the same venue last year where their performance earned rave reviews on campus.

The only all-male hall of residence in the university will be hoping to go a step further this season and write their name in gold plate as they slug it out with the four other traditional residence and three international hostels next week.

The acronym VANDAL is a combined summation of the attributes of Vandals and stands for the following: Vivacious, Affable, Neighbourly, Devoted/Dedicated, Altruistic and Loyal.
